Why do charities hijack issues?

It is clear to me that in the last 10 years charities have used campaigning as a key part of their marketing of themselves as good doers. To do this, they must hijack issues which appears to affect the people they claim to help and portray themselves as the authoritative voice and hero in whatever issues they have hijacked.

The reason for me is very clear to me, charities are dependent on their victim group to be passive precipitants of good old charity. The problem is disability and other issues, the victims have started to rebel and made it very clear they do not want to be portrayed as worthless second class citizens dependent on the patronage of the middle class.

So the next best thing is to stop their victims becoming empowered not to need them and the best way to do this is to take the lead in their empowerment and ensure it is as slow as possible to keep the charity in business for as long as possible. And charities have become very good at this where only a few people like myself can see past the smokescreens.

Charities are not the right people to campaign on behalf on other people as we should all be empowered to campaign for ourselves.
